"The Parioli district over time"
On the origin of his name there are different versions: those who attribute it to the Parioli hills mountains on which the area was built from the 1900s; Those who associate it with the Peraioli, the pears farmers who populated the area at the beginning of the century. The neighborhood, which is located in the northern area of Rome not far from the historic center but near the outskirts, is among the first neighborhoods born in 1911. Its history officially started in 1921 and wanted about 30 years to complete its physiognomy. In the 1950s, in fact, the Parioli present themselves as a neighborhood inhabited by the medium-high bourgeoisie, mostly officers and prominent characters of fascism. In those years elegant buildings and villas were erected, inserted in Signorial green contexts, buildings that, still today, remain historical and cultural symbol of past eras visible in the district. The neighborhood, which has always been a residence of wealthy, merchants and entrepreneurs as well as television characters, has been at the center of films, magazines and books over the years. The "Pariolino" meaning, a term used to identify wealthy and fashionable people (even non -residents in the neighborhood), becomes a widely used word and also enters the vocabulary. The oldest story in the neighborhood, dating back and Roman and antecedent eras, is still visible in the streets of the neighborhood. In the area there are in fact the remains of the ancient Sabina city "Antemnae", the Roman villa of the Auditorium and the
catacombs of the Giordani and Sant’Ilaria.
"The Parioli district today"
The Parioli district is a maze of tree -lined streets and avenues, elegant buildings and parks with luxuriant gardens, all this makes the area elegant and extremely well -kept. The urban structure of the Parioli dates back to the 1950s with valuable and elegant housing solutions, which have been preserved over time. The district extends along the bank of the Tiber river, a stone's throw from the Rai headquarters and Villa Borghese. It is no coincidence that the neighborhood is inhabited by known faces of Italian television and cinema. After the Second World War IS Political and Finance Roman characters, but also culture and art, make their homes build here, exclusive villas that today identify the area. Large terraces, "hidden" gardens, penthouses and villas represent a sure attraction of the most chic neighborhood in Rome.
