The area:
The property is located in the Castro Praetorian district, eighteenth district of Rome, indicated with R. Xvill.
The name derives from the Castra Praetoria, a barracks where the Praetorian guard resided in Roman times.
The true promoter of the Renaissance urbanization of the district was Sisto V Peretti, who had shown the great interest in the area even before becoming Pope, making himself built a grandiose villa on the edge of the Interior Ministry which extended with the garden richly adorned with fountains and portals between The Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, and the current Via Marsala and via del Viminale. With the arrival of the Piedmontese, also in Castro Pretorio, as in other districts, large construction sites arose for the construction of ministerial buildings of Umbertino style Iungo La Via XX Settembre, such as the Ministry of the Treasury and that of Defense,
The Aid district has a clearly Piedmontese road jersey with straight and not too wide roads with orthogonal scheme. This nineteenth-century urban planning is found above all in the part of the district between via XX Settembre, viale Castro Pretorio and the Iungo Retifilo via Volturno-via Marsala, with the center in the large abdication square, the focal point of this rioneer clove, from which a Spear a lattice of secondary roads deprives itself.
This is the most populated area of the district, in which Umbertini buildings coexist by users used for houses, offices and hotels more luxurious, the latter with the aim of hosting the large number of tourists from the nearby Termini station coexist.
