History
Acute stands at 724 meters above sea level, on a ridge of the Ernici mountains. In a dominant position on the underlying Valle del Sacco. The peaks of Mount Carmine (1.050 m a.s.l.) and Colle Madama (920 m a.s.l.) fall in the municipal area)
Acute was founded in the fifth century by inhabitants of Anagni fleeing an invasion, but of the finds have shown that there was already a small town before the Foundation. The first accurate sources come from 1051, where there is talk of a stronghold located near Anagni, the Castrum Acuti. The Rocca was dominated by various local lords and by the bishops of Anagni in alternation, until the end of the fourteenth century, when he returned to the hands of the bishops.
From the fifteenth century onwards, acutely more and more he tied himself to Anagni (in fact the citizens of Anagni was also given to the inhabitants of Acute in 1478) and consequently to the papacy.
From 1809 to 1814 acute was under French domination. The Municipality then returned to the hands of the bishops, but from 1815 to 1825 it was tormented by brigandage. In 1557 Spain declared war on the Pope, and so Anagni (as the Ciociaria area) was attacked by Marcantonio Colonna, head of an army of Spanish soldiers, who destroyed Frosinone. During the siege, the inhabitants moved to Paliano, another stronghold that was destroyed by the soldiers commanded by Marcantonio Colonna.
The war ended with the victory of Spain, but acute was not devastated, as happened to the other nearby cities. Subsequently, having a predominant role on other cities, acute he clashed several times over the centuries with Anagni, who tried to regain the lost supremacy. After many struggles, the clashes between Anagni and acute ended in 1806.
Acute is the place of foundation of the Congregation of Sisters Adorate of the Blood of Christ.

The medieval center
By passing the arch of the door from which you access the village you arrive at the square adjacent to the walls at the center of which stands a monument in honor of the fallen of the last war.
The village is perfectly preserved and well -kept. The streets are all covered with a cobblestone in gray cobblestones with a strip of red bricks in the center which, like a carpet, accompanies the visitor
The high and imposing houses with the doors with stone arches suggest that there are large environments and high ceilings inside which the valley below can be used.
Walking along the streets you meet the inhabitants of the village who come to meet you and greet you with a smile.
It is understood that here there is an ancient culture of hospitality, when along these streets there were stone seats and women and the elderly sat down to keep looking at the children playing.
After a first stretch of road, on the right you can see a widening. It is a small square, also renovated and with a half -moon -shaped parapet from which it can be overlooked you can admire the whole valley of the sack below and see the tips of the mountains of the Lepini opposite, that when snowing, they dye themselves in white.
The view is the breathtaking ones, especially in the morning when some light and white clouds hover in the air and makes the landscape even more attractive and fantastic.
