The area
From the Belvedere della Masseria, the gaze opens on the Cisternino campaign, full of vineyards, olive groves, fruit trees, farms, the oldest of which date back to the XV-XVI centuries, and trulli, singular dry constructions with the dome in the shape of a cone covered with stone slabs. Cisternino has the largest forest in the province of Brindisi, about 200 hectares of Mediterranean scrub and pine forest subjected to forest constraints.
We are in the Valle d’Itria, a World Heritage Site protected by UNESCO, the valley is a portion of the territory of the Central Puglia at the turn of the metropolitan city of Bari and the provinces of Brindisi and Taranto. Its territory coincides with the southern part of the Murge plateau. The main peculiarity of the valley are the trulli, typical and exclusive cone -shaped stone houses, the farms and the rural landscape generally characterized by the high use of the local stone used to build dry walls and the bright red soil, typical of southern Puglia.
